The championship brings dance talent from around the globe back to De Panne. In total, 3,420 dancers from 34 countries are taking part in the competition. Participants, ranging from young children to experienced adults, will compete in various categories within ballet, jazz and modern dance.
Carl Lenaerts, CEO of the Plopsa Group, highlights the importance of the collaboration:
“We are honoured to welcome the International Dance Organization back to the Plopsaland Resort and the Studio 100 Theater. The resort is the perfect base for an event of this scale, especially now that the theatre, thanks to recent renovations, features the best LED technology and movable screens.”
Dimitri Covent, organiser of the IDO World Championships, adds:
“It’s wonderful to work with Plopsa again for the World Championships. We look forward to welcoming thousands of dancers and supporters to De Panne. Thanks to our close cooperation with Plopsa, we believe this will be our most impressive edition yet.”
Stephane Buyens, Alderman for Tourism, Local Economy, Sports and Mobility, also emphasises the importance for the region:
“Visit De Panne is proud to host this event once again in our municipality. It’s a great boost during an otherwise quiet period for our local businesses. Our entrepreneurs are fully committed to welcoming more than 3,000 visitors. We rarely see so many nationalities at once on the West Coast. We are delighted to show them everything our town has to offer.”
